From The BBC: ‘Dutch Troops End Afghanistan Deployment’

Full story here.

“Dutch command was formally handed over to the US and Australia in a small ceremony on Sunday at the main military base in Uruzgan – where most Dutch soldiers have been deployed.”

That’s 1,950 troops and another country’s support lost.  How committed is Obama to victory especially after his decision to increase troops (which is the main reported reason he chose McChrystal, who’s now gone)?.  What has he done to get more European support for the War?  Will the base push on him to pull out?

In may be the wrong war in many Europeans’ eyes, but they have national security interests at stake, much as we do.
