Wednesday Poem-Winter Oak

Winter Oak

It is a granite
moon which fills the fields
beyond the light
of a neighbor’s barn.

The first spring calf stood
today. on tufted grass
alive, bundled by the wind.
Its stillborn twin

we found nearby.
The barn steeple rises
up, as it must,
the stars like salt in my eyes.

I’m aiming to become a middling poet. Let me know if I’m getting there.
