Seattle Photo-Commerce In Fog

It used to be coal underground, down to the lake and out to the Sound.

  1. Interesting perspective. Our modest house on the east slope of Capitol Hill/above Madison Valley, was built at the beginning of the twentieth century by a man whose trade was extensively mining coal up on Cougar Mountain. When I go for walks up there and see some of the old pits and depressions in the ground, old mines, I wonder to myself if it was a site he was involved with.

    • Thank you very much for looking and sharing that tale. I imagine he probably was. I know they mined over many years. It’s a great spot to walk around and think. One time, alone while younger, I decided to go off-trail and just cut through. About two hours later, through thick brush, I lost my way…just a bit. Just enough to have that ‘uh-oh’ moment a few times.
